Kingsmead Day Nursery was opened on 3rd September 1989 and is approximately two minutes walk from the city centre. There is easy access to the M3 and M27 motorways.

The nursery is situated in a converted Victorian property which stands in a good size plot with the garden to the rear of the property. The building is divided into three units to encourage and promote children's development. The first floor is dedicated to our under 2s and the ground floor for our 2-5 year olds in preparation for their entry in to school.

Continuous provision is maintained here at Kingsmead; we ensure that we provide the same level of materials and activities outdoors as well as indoors. The nursery has a good size garden, which is designed and well equipped to enhance children's learning and development. There is a combination of artificial grass, rubber surfaces and a tarmac areas. There is a vegetable garden which is a great source of learning for the children, a digging section, a sensory walk through helping with children's balancing skills and a tranquil sensory area which has benches for the children to sit, read books, and enjoy the fragrant plants and herbs along with listening to the noisy grasses. Children and staff planted this area with plants that will help sustain the bee population.

We monitor closely the value of equipment and resources to ensure that the children gain the maximum benefit and learning experience.

Security is paramount at the Kingsmead. There is a video link entry system to ensure that every visitor is vetted thoroughly before being allowed entry.

"Children are happy and settled in the well-organised, secure and welcoming environment offered. The well-established management team supports a strong team of staff and promotes effective working with parents."
